If you’re looking for a not-to-be-missed experience, then why not try fishing charters? Reliance II Charters is a family owned and operated business, run by Paul and Sue Grunsell. With 30 years of experience and local knowledge, there’s not much Paul doesn’t know about the Newcastle area, which allows him to give you the best experience possible.
We offer fishing charters for up to 16 passengers, with two crew members to make sure your every need is taken care of. Fishing charters are a great day out for all kinds of occasions, from birthdays to bucks nights, from work outings to corporate events. They can even just be a wonderful excuse to spend a day out with your mates.
The Reliance II currently operates out of Swansea. We have found the best groups are between 7 and 14 people, though individual bookings can be arranged if you would prefer.
The Captain
Paul Grunsell is the owner and operator of Reliance II Charters, and he has been involved in the Newcastle fishing industry for over 30 years. His experience includes Government Shark Meshing in the Newcastle, Central Coast and South Sydney regions, as well as charter and commercial fishing in the Newcastle and Swansea areas.
Paul has contacts with many of the local fishermen and his knowledge of local fishing grounds is so expansive that you’re bound to impress everyone with your big catch!

On the Reliance II, we pride ourselves on delivering personalised service, catering for all levels of fishing experience. So whether you’re a novice or an expert, we can guarantee that we will have the right skills and equipment to let you get the most out of your day. We provide top quality rods, reels, bait and tackle, and all fishing licences are included, so you don’t have to worry about anything except having a good time.
Passenger safety is our number one priority which is why our vessel is fully equipped with the latest electronics including GPS and ColourSounder. This means that when you’re having the time of your life, the only thing you need to worry about is what fish you’re going to catch!

One of the best things about fishing is how relaxing it is. Paul is renowned for his easy-going manner, and the crew are always full of jokes and stories to keep you laughing from morning to night. Fishing charters with Reliance II Charters are more than just a fishing trip, they are a great opportunity to unwind in a casual, friendly environment.
We also provide plenty of food on board. Passengers are served breakfast, as well as morning/afternoon tea and a barbeque lunch/tea on board.
